NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Mayor Karp announced that Mike Oliver has been selected as the new City <br /> Manager. He described Mr. Oliver's long history with the City <br /> beginning in 1966 as a Parks employee, moving through the Engineering <br /> Division, Building and Planning Department, and ultimately as an <br /> Administrative Assistant in the City Manager's Office. He said Mr. <br /> Oliver has been Assistant City Manager since 1986 and for the last <br /> couple of months has been the Acting City Manager, and he said the City <br /> Council offered the position of City Manager to Mr. Oliver. <br /> Mike Oliver thanked the City Council . He said it is an honor to accept <br /> the position. He said when he started with the City 25 years ago he <br /> had no concept that this day would come. He said he has lived in San <br /> Leandro all of his life and loves this community. He said he has come <br /> to respect the City Council for the manner in which they represent the <br /> community and appreciates their hard work for the City's future. <br />
