Matter of Condemnation of Property located at 1701 Marina Boulevard, <br /> 2550 Merced Street, 1735 Fairway Drive (Lucky Stores) , and 1700 Fairway <br /> Drive (Simmons Company) for Aladdin Avenue/Fairway Drive Overcrossing <br /> Project. <br /> The City Clerk noted staff was requesting that the portion of the <br /> Public Hearing related to the condemnation of the Lucky Stores property <br /> at 1701 Marina Boulevard, 2550 Merced Street, and 1735 Fairway Drive be <br /> continued to the City Council Meeting of April 20, 1992. <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 92-28 (1206) <br /> MATTER OF CONDEMNATION OF PROPERTY <br /> LOCATED AT 1701 MARINA BOULEVARD, 2550 MERCED STREET, <br /> 1735 FAIRWAY DRIVE <br /> LUCKY STORES <br /> FOR ALADDIN AVENUE/FAIRWAY DRIVE OVERCROSSING PROJECT <br /> On motion by Council Member Polvorosa, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Faria, and carried by the following called vote, the City Council <br /> continued the Public Hearing regarding the matter of Condemnation of Property <br /> located at 1701 Marina Boulevard, 2550 Merced Street, 1735 Fairway Drive (Lucky <br /> Stores) to the April 20, 1992, City Council Meeting. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 <br /> ( <br /> This being the time and place for the Public Hearing on the above <br /> matter, Rob Caughell , Administrative Assistant, Engineering and <br /> Transportation Department, said the Resolution on the City Council 's <br /> Agenda represents the first step in the condemnation process necessary <br /> to proceed with the construction of the Aladdin Avenue/Fairway Drive <br /> Overcrossing. <br /> He said the City has not been able to come to agreement with Simmons on <br /> purchase of either property. He said this Resolution gives staff the <br /> authority to proceed through the courts to purchase the property. He <br /> described the location of the property and said the City needs to <br /> acquire a partial area of land from property that faces Fairway Drive <br /> in order to construct an access road for automobile and truck traffic <br /> to maintain access to the front portion of the Simmons property. <br /> The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br />
