Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 21, 19920 Page - 3 - accomplished or will be completed, including Davis Street, San Leandro Boulevard, Marina Boulevard, and the Fairway Drive Overcrossing. He said the General Plan sets the tone for the new San Leandro. He noted the Master Plan of City Streets, the new Zoning Code, and the North Area Study. He said the voter has now suggested that the City slow down and plan anew for the future. He said the City Council has been active because that's what the people told them they wanted. He said the City Council reflects the people of San Leandro, a City in transition. He thanked his wife of 37 years, Melitta, and his children for their support. He said he was sorry his mother was not here to say goodbye; he said she came from the generation that built America. He said America has provided each of us a good living. He said today we seem to have lost our way, but we will move into a future that will result in equality for all and justice for each and every one of us. Council Member Glaze said for eight years the City Council has been his life. He said the people of San Leandro voted him in eight years ago and there have been a lot of good times. He said he hoped Kent and Howard would continue the good times. He said the Council has been a family. He said people have asked if it was the Monday nights that gave him enthusiasm; but he said, no, it was the times in the community, at the schools, and with the people we've touched, made friends with, and worked with. He said he wouldn't trade his colleagues for a million dollars and thanked all of them. He said he has been fortunate to work with three Mayors. He commented on and thanked each of his colleagues on the City Council and thanked everyone for the opportunity to serve.
