NEW BUSINESS
A. Resolution Approving Plans and Specifications and Calling for Bids for
Thrasher Park Improvements, Project No. 91-8613. Removed from the
Consent Calendar to New Business.
Council Member Polvorosa said he felt the proposed fence on Davis
Street was not adequate and balls would still be hit over the fence.
He said he felt the fence should be closer to the sidewalk.
Bill Algire, Director of Engineering and Transportation Department,
described the proposed improvements. He said it is proposed to raise
the fence from 10 feet to 20 feet. He said aesthetics were taken into
account and it is proposed to plant landscaping in front of the fence
as a buffer to the view from the street.
Dennis Smith, Director of Recreation-Human Resources Department, said
a 15-foot fence could be put at the street.
Council Member Polvorosa said he was concerned that if balls bounced
into the street motorists might swerve and this could cause accidents.
Mayor Karp suggested Council Member Polvorosa meet with Mr. Smith and
work out an alternative on the fence.
