Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - June 15, 1992 Page - 9 -
NEW BUSINESS (continued)
The following Resolution was then introduced:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-154 (2709)
RESOLUTION OF AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR
WASHINGTON AVENUE/LEWELLING BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS,
PROJECT NO. 92-8354
Introduced by Council Member Kerr, who moved its adoption, seconded by Council
Member Perry, and carried by the following called vote:
AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa;
Mayor Karp ( 7 )
NOES: None ( 0 )
ABSENT: None ( 0 )
B. Resolution Approving Agreement for Services with Bus/Line Media Bus
Shelter Company. Removed from Consent Calendar to New Business.
Council Member Corbett said she was surprised to see this matter on the
Consent Calendar because she thought it was going to come back to the
City Council for further discussion. She said many of her questions
were answered by the staff report which was distributed to the City
Council , but she was still concerned about the aesthetics of the bus
shelters, particularly as they relate to the North Area and other
standards. She said she realizes there will be a Work Session
discussion before locating the shelters, but is concerned the locations
have already been pre-approved. Kathy Ornelas, Community Relations
Representative, said the proposed locations will be presented to the
City Council for review and approval and no specific locations have
been determined with Bus/Line at this time. She said the Planning
Division is aware of the areas where the shelters might be
inappropriate.
Council Member Perry noted the agreement states that, if more than 31
shelters are to be installed, the additional locations may be approved
in writing by the City Manager. She requested that this section of the
agreement be amended to provided for approval by the City Council .
Steve Meyers, City Attorney, said the City Council could direct that
the agreement be amended.
Beth Moughan, Bus Line Media, said her company concurs with the
amendment. She said they will work closely with Planning to ensure
that all locations are acceptable to the City Council .
