Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - July 6, 1992 Page - 26 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> Council Member Polvorosa asked if the height of the ceilings could be <br /> reduced and thereby lower each floor one foot. The architect said this <br /> could be done but higher ceilings are a desirable feature. <br /> Council Member Perry said parking is a problem. She said the homeowners <br /> associations seem willing to look at two stories. She said she would <br /> like to see more open space and breaks in the mass. <br /> Council Member Myers said he has concerns about building residential <br /> right next to commercial , and also has concerns regarding traffic, <br /> rental units, parking, the height, shadow, etc. <br /> Council Member Faria suggested changing a Condition to require a <br /> different parking ratio. Mr. Cohen said they could eliminate the one- <br /> bedroom units and combine them into three bedrooms and come closer to <br /> the required parking. <br /> Mayor Karp asked if they would be willing to reduce the density to 27 <br /> units. Mr. Fors said they could not afford to do so. <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> Minute Order No. 92-60, Matter of Appeal of PD-92-02; Planned Unit <br /> Development; General Development Plan and Precise Development Plan; to <br /> construct a thirty-six (36) unit condominium consisting of three stories <br /> over a partially depressed parking garage at 1057 MacArthur Boulevard; <br /> Assessor's Parcel Number 76-350-9; former site of Evergreen Nursery; <br /> Lance Fors and Charlotte Selover; C-2 (Light Commercial ) District. <br /> (1009) <br /> On motion by Council Member Corbett, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Faria, and carried by the following called vote, the City <br /> Council denied the Appeal of PD-92-02. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: Council Member Polvorosa ( 1 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br />
