MINUTES <br /> SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> AUGUST 3, 1992 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> None <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> A. Ted Lastiri asked that item D, Resolution Approving Subgrantee <br /> Agreement with Eden Council for Hope and Opportunity, be removed from <br /> the Consent Calendar. <br /> B. Rick Richards, 335 Peralta Avenue, spoke regarding the October 3 Memory <br /> Walk for Alzheimer's at the San Leandro Marina. He said this will be <br /> the first Walk for the Bay Area Chapter. He said all funds raised will <br /> stay in Alameda County and will be distributed for research for <br /> Alzheimer's and to assist families with victims of Alzheimer's. He <br /> noted that Council Member Perry will be one of the group leaders and <br /> distributed pamphlets for obtaining sponsorship. He noted that two <br /> tickets for an Oakland A's game will be given for sponsorship forms <br /> returned by September 20, and the team award would be the skybox. <br /> He introduced Nancy Rumsey, Chairwoman for the event, and Tim Mallard, <br /> President of the Association. <br /> Nancy Rumsey described the Walk and said that, in addition to the Walk, <br /> the activities will include entertainment, a festival , sale of tee- <br /> shirts and visors, and displays by local vendors, including <br /> restaurants. She said this Walk is being held Nationally, and the Bay <br /> Area Chapter is hoping to raise at least $20,000. She said this will <br /> be a fun, inter-generational activity and thanked the City Council for <br /> their support. <br />
