Council Member Myers noted the Unocal Station at the corner of
Doolittle and Marina Boulevard is deserted, the doors are open, the
security fencing has been knocked down, and the property contains weeds
and a pile of dirt from the tank removal . He asked if a Conditional
Use Permit was needed to remove tanks. City Manager Mike Oliver said
a permit was not needed; however, he said he, Steve Meyers, and Bill
McCammon of the Fire Department have discussed gas station remediations
and the possibility of requiring Conditional Uses or other requirements
to take care of these situations in the future.
B. Council Member Corbett noted she has been working with Kathy Ornelas
and Mike Oliver to schedule the first Town Hall Meeting for her
District. She said the meeting will be held on October 6, 1992, 7:00
to 9:00 p.m. , at Washington School , and will focus on many issues,
including volunteerism in a reduced economy.
C.
