Council Member Corbett noted that, at the 14th Assembly District Award
Ceremonies, the Youth Advisory Commission had received an Award for
"Organization of the Year" for their volunteer services.
C. Council Member Kerr spoke regarding a letter regarding exemption from
garbage service for a duplex.
Council Member Corbett said she has been in extensive contact with the
writer of the letter and could fill Council Member Kerr in on this
matter.
Council Member Kerr said staff needs to look at existing Ordinances and
see if two adjacent units who produce less than 30 gallons of garbage
should be able to cooperate in their garbage service. He said our
Ordinance should be reasonable.
Council Member Corbett said she would be happy to fill him in on the
details on this particular matter.
D. Council Member Kerr asked if the matter of travel trailers parking on
the street had been resolved. He said it was his understanding that
permits were available for parking for 72 hours.
Kathy Ornelas said the specific problem to which he was referring had
been resolved, and the vehicle had received permits for 72 hours and
had not been parked for more than 72 hours each time.
E. Council Member Kerr noted a staff report which talked about an
Agreement with Red Cross to set up disaster shelters at two schools in
San Leandro. He asked why shelters were not set up at any of the San
Lorenzo School District schools in San Leandro, specifically, in the
Washington Manor area, and why there were shelters at only two schools
in San Leandro.
Council Member Perry said this matter has been discussed and will
continue to be under discussion with the San Lorenzo Unified School
District.
Mike Oliver said staff will prepare a report on this matter.
F. Council Member Kerr requested that staff look into the matter of
EBMUD's regulations regarding the use of gray water to see if this
would be feasible in San Leandro.
