MINUTES <br /> SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> NOVEMBER 2, 1992 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. Presentation of Proclamation to the Optimist Club of San Leandro, <br /> Declaring November 8-14, 1992, Youth Appreciation Week. <br /> Mayor Karp said the Optimist Club is one of the most active <br /> organizations working with youth in the City. He presented Minnie <br /> Malloy and Harold Kitzmann of the Club with a plaque proclaiming Youth <br /> Appreciation Week, November 8-14, 1992. <br /> Mr. Kitzmann said the Club has worked on the Youth Appreciation Program <br /> since its inception. He said the Club will hold a breakfast at Piper's <br /> honoring between 75 and 100 young people on November 8th at 9:00 a.m. <br /> Mayor Karp said, in this time of recession, it is important for <br /> businesses and the community to roll up their sleeves, give, and get <br /> involved. He noted the Optimist Club will be celebrating its 50th <br /> anniversary next year and commended them on their many years of serving <br /> the community. <br /> B. Presentation of Autographed Baseballs from the Cleveland Indians West <br /> Coast Instructional League. <br /> Billy and Gloria Williams appeared before the City Council on behalf of <br /> the Cleveland Indians. They said they appreciated the courtesy that <br /> had been afforded the team by the City. They said Baseball America <br /> sports magazine nominated the team as the Number 1 organization for <br /> 1992, and said they are looking to 1994 for a winning season. They <br /> expressed their appreciation to Dennis Smith and Melinda Chinn and said <br /> using the sports field was an experiment that worked well . <br /> Mayor Karp said the City will be happy to see the team back next year. <br /> The Williams' presented the City Council with team caps, autographed <br /> balls, and an autographed bat. <br />
