(1156) <br /> On motion by Council Member Faria, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Corbett, and carried by the following called vote, the <br /> City Council approved the appointment of Manuel Sousa, Norman Santos, <br /> Gordon Galvan, Ben Moal , and Michael Jacobowitz as Alternates to the <br /> Public Advisory Task Force on City Finances. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> None <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers said he attended the East Bay League of California <br /> Cities meeting. He commended Fire Chief Bill McCammon for the <br /> excellent presentation he made with the Fire Chiefs from Union City and <br /> Hayward. Council Member Perry concurred. <br /> B. Council Member Myers commented regarding a recent letter from <br /> Assemblyman Klehs. He said we are not fighting the State. He said we <br /> are all in the same economic slump and should look for ways to work <br /> together. <br /> Mike Oliver, City Manager, said the segments in the City newsletter <br /> were intended to inform the public about the impact of the State budget <br /> actions on the City. He said it was not an attempt to attack anyone. <br /> C. Council Member Kerr said he appeared before the State's Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board regarding the use of Mokelumne River water. He <br /> • <br /> said we have had an upstream source of water for the past 63 years. He <br /> said the Department of Fish and Game and people in San Joaquin want us <br /> to give that water up and use Delta water. He said the Delta water is <br /> contaminated and must be treated before it can be used for drinking <br /> water. He said people should be aware and not let this happen. He <br /> said good water is needed for food-processing industries, bio-tech <br /> industries, etc. <br />
