Council Member Faria said he would like to see San Leandro develop a yellow-ribbon program in support of our soldiers. Council Member Glaze concurred and said the American Flag is symbolic of the United States and a message needs to be sent to our servicemen and servicewomen that the flag is waving and that everyone stands behind our military personnel regardless of our views on the war. He said these are Americans fighting for America and we need to be behind them. Council Member Faria said we should have a resolution to that effect. MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-12 (1123) MOTION TO CONSIDER THE MATTER OF A RESOLUTION NAMING SAN LEANDRO A YELLOW-RIBBON CITY AN URGENCY MATTER AND TO PLACE A RESOLUTION ON THE JANUARY 22, 1991 AGENDA On motion by Council Member Faria who moved its approval , seconded by Council Member Santos and carried by the following called vote, the City Council approved placement of a Resolution Naming San Leandro a Yellow-Ribbon City on the January 22, 1991, Agenda. AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; ( 6 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: Mayor Karp ( 1 ) The following Resolution was then introduced: RESOLUTION NO. 91-9 (1123) APPROVING A RESOLUTION NAMING SAN LEANDRO A YELLOW-RIBBON CITY Introduced by Council Member Faria who moved its adoption, seconded by Council Member Perry and carried by the following called vote: AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; ( 6 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: Mayor Karp ( 1 ) E. Council Member Polvorosa noted the property on either side of the north- bound approach to the Washington Avenue underpass should be looked at. He said the property is in poor condition, including weeds and debris.
