Council Member Faria said he would like to see San Leandro develop a <br /> yellow-ribbon program in support of our soldiers. Council Member Glaze <br /> concurred and said the American Flag is symbolic of the United States <br /> and a message needs to be sent to our servicemen and servicewomen that <br /> the flag is waving and that everyone stands behind our military personnel <br /> regardless of our views on the war. He said these are Americans fighting <br /> for America and we need to be behind them. Council Member Faria said <br /> we should have a resolution to that effect. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-12 (1123) <br /> MOTION TO CONSIDER THE MATTER <br /> OF A RESOLUTION <br /> NAMING SAN LEANDRO A YELLOW-RIBBON CITY <br /> AN URGENCY MATTER AND TO PLACE A RESOLUTION <br /> ON THE JANUARY 22, 1991 AGENDA <br /> On motion by Council Member Faria who moved its approval , seconded by Council <br /> Member Santos and carried by the following called vote, the City Council approved <br /> placement of a Resolution Naming San Leandro a Yellow-Ribbon City on the <br /> January 22, 1991, Agenda. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Karp ( 1 ) <br /> The following Resolution was then introduced: <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 91-9 (1123) <br /> APPROVING A RESOLUTION <br /> NAMING SAN LEANDRO A YELLOW-RIBBON CITY <br /> Introduced by Council Member Faria who moved its adoption, seconded by Council <br /> Member Perry and carried by the following called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Karp ( 1 ) <br /> E. Council Member Polvorosa noted the property on either side of the north- <br /> bound approach to the Washington Avenue underpass should be looked at. <br /> He said the property is in poor condition, including weeds and debris. <br />
