He then noted that, in response to a determination by the Committee that additional parental representation was required, Cecilia Thomas and Joanne Yuen had been named to the Committee by both the City Council and the School Board. The following Motion was then introduced: MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-33 (1156) MOTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE SAN LEANDRO PARTNERSHIP FOR YOUTH SAFETY COMMITTEE On motion by Council Member Glaze who moved its approval , seconded by Council Member Perry and carried by the following called vote, the City Council appointed two additional parent representatives, Cecilia Thomas and Joanne Yuen, to the San Leandro Partnership for Youth Safety Committee. AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; • Mayor Karp ( 7 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 ) G. Matter of Proposed Renaming of East 14th Street. City Manager Dick Randall said one of the original recommendations proposed by the North Area Study Committees was the possibility of renaming East 14th Street. He said that, in light of the fact that the North Area Specific Plan would be presented to the City Council on May 21 this seemed an appropriate time to consider this matter. Mark Adcock, Assistant to the City Manager, said the renaming of East 14th Street had been one of the original 92 recommendations. He said the City has no formal policy to address renaming of streets. He said the last time this matter was considered was related to Fairmont, Halcyon, Floresta, Farnsworth Streets. He said business professionals on East 14th Street have expressed interest in the possibility of renaming the Street. He described the process that would be involved, including formation of a committee, and asked for City Council direction in this matter. He also noted that the telephone area code is due for a change in September, so the timing was right for this proposal . He also noted that interest has been expressed, but no formal , written request has been received for renaming MacArthur Boulevard but this had also been brought up as part of the North Area Study. Council Member Polvorosa said he knew the North Area Business Association did want the renaming of MacArthur Boulevard to be considered as well , and this matter should be considered at the same time as the renaming of East 14th Street.
