Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - August 19, 1991 Page - 11 - <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued) <br /> Council Member Santos said that he had hoped the Neves' would have <br /> attended one of the neighborhood meetings to discuss this issue and the <br /> esthetics of the modification. He said the new corner will slow traffic <br /> from the current curve, and mentioned that one area resident has had <br /> a number of cars in his lawn due to the current design. <br /> Council Member Perry suggested a temporary change of the curve to allow <br /> the City to review the effect of the proposed modification. <br /> Roy Parker said it would be possible to install temporary pylons to <br /> determine if the changes will alter traffic patterns. He said a white <br /> line is now painted on the street to indicate the shape of the proposed <br /> modification, if the City Council wished to visit the location. <br /> Mr. Chandler reiterated the issue of esthetics and asked the City <br /> Council to view the location. He said other, more reasonable options <br /> may exist to eliminate speeding problems in this location, without <br /> making this drastic change. <br /> Council Member Santos recommended approval of the concept and suggested <br /> that staff meet with Mr. Chandler and the Neves to discuss the proposal . <br /> He said the residents of Castro Street have been waiting for more than <br /> 4 years for this change. <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-73 <br /> MATTER OF CASTRO/WILLIAMS STREETS <br /> INTERSECTION MODIFICATIONS <br /> On motion by Council Member Santos who moved its approval , seconded by Council <br /> Member Corbett and carried by the following called vote, the City Council <br /> approved the concept and directed staff to meet with the Neves' and their <br /> attorney to discuss the modification. Additionally staff shall determine the <br /> responsibilities for the sidewalk and return to Council with their results. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: Mayor Karp ( 1 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br />
