Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - August 19, 1991 Page - 21 - PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) Steve Meyers read the standards for granting a variance per the Zoning Code. Council Member Glaze said he feels this has been a good opportunity for the City to evaluate a request for a variance in a very sensitive area of the City, and feels this should be a good exception to the rule. Council Member Corbett said she felt the City should maintain the R-1- B-1 requirements within this district, and the maintenance of the uniqueness of this area should be upheld. There being no further comments from the public, on motion of Council Member Santos, seconded by Council Member Perry, and carried unanimously, the Public Hearing was closed. Council Member Corbett made a motion to deny the appeal . There was no second to the motion. Council Member Glaze made a motion to approve the appeal , seconded by Council Member Santos. Steve Meyers suggested that, if the Council approved the variance, approval should require that the improvements to the home be made as described at this meeting, and that this should be part of the motion. The following Motion was then introduced: MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-76 MATTER OF APPEAL BY TONY LIZOTTE OF THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS' DENIAL OF V-91-01 440 BREED AVENUE On motion by Council Member Glaze who moved its approval , seconded by Council Member Santos and carried by the following called vote, the City Council approved the appeal of V-91-01 , and required that the improvements to the property be constructed as described at the August 19, 1991 public hearing. AYES: Council Members Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; Mayor Karp ( 6 ) NOES: Council Member Corbett ( 1 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 )
