Council Member Perry said each city and county
had one vote and that Council Member Perry would be voting as San
Leandro's representative.
C. Council Member Faria discussed appointments to the Youth Advisory
Commission. He said he was concerned regarding the applications he had
received because all three of his applicants were seniors. He said he
would like to look for some younger people to serve on the Commission
because the seniors will only be serving for six months. It was
explained that the Ordinance creating the Commission calls for seven
juniors and seven seniors, and perhaps this combination could be
provided through a combination of appointments from the different
Districts and from the Mayor's At-Large appointments.
Mayor Karp said he was concerned that there had been no black
applicants. Mayor Karp said 2,200 applications
were sent out and staff contacted all of the schools.
Council Member Polvorosa said he was concerned because his District
covers both San Lorenzo and San Leandro Unified School Districts.
