Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - January 2, 1990 Page - 5 -
PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued)
Peter Jimenez, 3523 Pinewood Drive, Hayward, (business address 2610 Central
Avenue, Union City) said that he was requesting time to work with Mr. Maggi
to buy his property.
The City Council asked a-number of questions about what would happen if the
Public Hearing were continued. Staff indicated that there would be no impact
on the project at this point.
Kenneth Mock, President of Banner Development, 2610 Central Avenue, Union
City, provided background on the types of developments that Banner has done
or is doing in San Leandro. He noted that they were trying to obtain all
the surrounding properties in the Assessment District area, and if they were
successful , they would reimburse the City for the $60,000 spent by the City
to date.
Bill Rugg, Community Development Director, said that if this Public Hearing
were continued again the bidder on the project was willing to extend his bid
provided he could start work by April 15, so a forty-five-day extension would
not be a problem.
On motion of Council Member Suchman, seconded by Council Member Santos and
carried unanimously, all the Public Hearings on the matter of Assessment
District No. 94 were continued to February 20, 1990.
MISCELLANEOUS:
a. Matter of PD-88-5, Marina Square (Pacific High School Site) , Reynolds &
Brown; Approval of Proposed Wording for Condition IX-A Related to Future
Uses/Tenants of the Site. Continued from City Council Meeting of
December 19, 1989. On motion of Council Member Suchman, seconded by Council
Member Jardin, with Council Member Glaze voting no, the proposed wording was
approved.
b. Matter of Nomination of William Swann, Jr. , to Human Resources Commission
(At Large) . On motion of Council Member Glaze, seconded by Council Member
Perry and carried unanimously, the nomination of William Swann, Jr. , to the
Human Resources Commission was approved and the City Clerk was directed to
prepare a Resolution of Appointment.
c. Council Member Santos noted a recent article in the newspaper which had
described the City Council as six white men and one white woman and noted
that this type of article did not reflect fairly upon the City Council .
d. Council Member Glaze introduced Bill Swann, newly nominated Human Resources
Commissioner.
j
