They said they
disapprove of the quality of the work and of the slurry seal itself. They asked
for copies of test data and why the street was slurry sealed because they felt
it was only 9-10 years old. City Engineer, Bill Silva, said the work that had
been done did meet the specifications and the contractor had complied with all
City requirements. He said the street was approximately 10-15 years old and did
warrant slurry seal . He noted the one-year warranty period and discussed the
meeting with the Homeowners Association. The City Council noted the City is
looking into ways to improve the specifications and said if more problems arise
with the existing slurry seal the contractor can be required to come back and
make corrections. City Manager, Dick Randall , said field trips and review of
specifications with the City Council will be scheduled. Mr. Stenberg asked for
a copy of the test data.
The City Council directed staff to prepare a follow-up report on this matter in
three months.
The following Resolution was then introduced:
RESOLUTION NO. 90-27 (2638)
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR
SLURRY SEAL CITY STREET, FISCAL YEAR 1989-90
PROJECT NO. 89-8322
Introduced by Council Member Faria who moved its adoption, seconded by Council
Member Santos and carried by the following called vote:
AYES: Council Members Faria, Jardin, Santos; Mayor Karp ( 4 )
NOES: Council Members Glaze, Perry, and Suchman ( 3 )
ABSENT: None ( 0 )
