Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - July 16, 1990 Page - 8 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued): <br /> months and there was nothing more current on cable than was now being <br /> provided. <br /> In response to Council Member Glaze's questions regarding the new remote- <br /> control units and whether the cable company was planning to replace the old <br /> ones over time, the cable company indicated that it was the converter box <br /> that regulated the channels and not the remote-control devices. <br /> The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br /> Bob Grazzini , 236 Begier Avenue, asked whether the Sports Channel will be <br /> included as part of the rebuild. Mr. Lacey indicated that they are still <br /> negotiating with the Sports Channel people. Mr. Grazzini also indicated that <br /> his cable service went out every two weeks. <br /> Council Member Corbett asked for a report as to which areas were currently <br /> not hooked up to cable. <br /> Council Member Polvorosa asked for a report of the underground utility areas <br /> that were not hooked up to cable. <br /> Council Member Glaze asked what constituted a deficiency in service. He also <br /> noted that there appeared to be several types of remote-control units in <br /> different areas of the City, some of which have limited capabilities. <br /> There being no further comments from the Council or the public, on motion <br /> of Council Member Santos, seconded by Council Member Polvorosa and carried <br /> unanimously, the Public Hearing was closed. <br /> The City Council then directed United Cable Company to respond to the <br /> questions raised during this Public Hearing at a specific time and place and <br /> asked that staff make a determination at that time as to whether the company <br /> was in compliance with the Franchise Agreement. <br /> MISCELLANEOUS: <br /> a. Matter of Nomination of Member to Human Resources Commission (District 2) - <br /> Nomination Pending. Council Member Perry indicated the nomination is still <br /> pending and she will submit a list of criteria to the newspapers to assist <br /> in recruitment. <br /> b. Matter of City Council Appointments to Internal Committees and Other <br /> Agencies. On motion of Council Member Santos, seconded by Council Member <br /> Corbett and carried unanimously, City Council Members were appointed to <br /> various internal and external committees, as discussed during the July 16 <br /> Work Session and shown as follows: <br />
