AN City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: February 18, 2014 <br />ONR x419 ` Staff Report <br />File Number: 14-026 Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: 8.F. <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY: Uchenna Udemezue <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW: David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE: Staff Report for a Resolution Approving Amendment No. 1 to Consulting <br />Services Agreement with Aliquot Associates, Inc. for Design Work on the San <br />Leandro Bikeway Network East Project, Project No. 2013.0160 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends approval of amendments to the Consulting Services Agreement (CSA) with <br />Aliquot Associates, Inc. that calls for the CSA not to exceed the amount of compensation from <br />$48,000 to $64,000 and an extension of the consulting services agreement from June 30, <br />2014 to December 31, 2014. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff reviewed seven proposals for bikeway design services. The City's Director of <br />Engineering & Transportation executed a Consulting Services Agreement (CSA) with Aliquot <br />Associates, Inc. on May 16, 2012. <br />The project designs 4.5 miles of Class II Bikeways and 13.2 miles of Class III Bikeways in San <br />Leandro east of the Union Pacific Railroad Niles Subdivision tracks. The project area includes <br />downtown San Leandro and the San Leandro BART station. The project will complete gaps in <br />the bicycle network in the eastern half of San Leandro to supplement the existing Class II and <br />II I Bikeways on Bancroft Avenue, Hesperian Boulevard, Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro <br />Boulevard, and Foothill Boulevard. The project supports the multi -modal transportation <br />system that is being developed in the City's Priority Development Areas that focus on <br />transit -oriented developments. <br />Analysis <br />Staff requests City Council's approval to fund additional scope for the design of 0.53 mile of <br />Class II Bike Lanes on Floresta Boulevard/ Farnsworth Street between Fremont Avenue and <br />Corvallis Street; signing, striping and curb ramps at the Floresta Boulevard/Monterey <br />City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 2/12/2014 <br />
