The City's Director of
Engineering & Transportation executed a Consulting Services Agreement (CSA) with Aliquot
Associates, Inc. on May 16, 2012.
The project designs 4.5 miles of Class II Bikeways and 13.2 miles of Class III Bikeways in San
Leandro east of the Union Pacific Railroad Niles Subdivision tracks. The project area includes
downtown San Leandro and the San Leandro BART station. The project will complete gaps in
the bicycle network in the eastern half of San Leandro to supplement the existing Class II and
II I Bikeways on Bancroft Avenue, Hesperian Boulevard, Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro
Boulevard, and Foothill Boulevard. The project supports the multi -modal transportation
system that is being developed in the City's Priority Development Areas that focus on
transit -oriented developments.
Analysis
Staff requests City Council's approval to fund additional scope for the design of 0.53 mile of
Class II Bike Lanes on Floresta Boulevard/ Farnsworth Street between Fremont Avenue and
Corvallis Street; signing, striping and curb ramps at the Floresta Boulevard/Monterey
City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 2/12/2014
