Retail Services. Provision of recurrently needed services of a personal nature. This <br />classification includes barber and beauty shops, tattoo studios, seamstresses, tailors, <br />shoe repair shops, dry cleaning businesses (excluding large-scale plants), photocopy- <br />ing, and self-service laundries. Retail Services excludes coin-operated self-service <br />laundries and coin-operated dry cleaning businesses. <br /> <br />Roof Line. The top of the parapet or the midpoint between the eave line and the top of <br />the roof. Where a building has several roof lines, the roof line for purposes of regulating <br />the installation of a sign shall be the one belonging to that portion of the building on <br />which or nearest to which the sign is located. For purposes of establishing sign height, <br />where no building is located on the property, the roofline shall be twelve (12) feet above <br />grade. <br /> <br />Roof Top. The covered surface of the uppermost story of a building. <br /> <br />Room, Habitable. A room meeting the requirements of the Uniform Housing Code for <br />sleeping, living, cooking, or dining purposes, excluding such enclosed places as closets, <br />pantries, bath or toilet rooms, service rooms, connecting corridors, laundries, unfinished <br />attics, foyers, storage spaces, cellars, utility rooms, garages, and similar spaces. <br /> <br />Rooming House. See “Boarding House.” <br /> <br />Schools, Public or Private. Educational institutions having a curriculum comparable to <br />that required in the public schools of the State of California and meeting the require- <br />ments of the State compulsory education laws. <br /> <br />Secondary Dwelling Unit. An accessory dwelling unit attached or unattached to a sin- <br />gle-family residence, as regulated by Section 2-576: Secondary Dwelling Units. <br /> <br />Secondhand Sales. The retail sale of used items, for example, used appliances and <br />used clothing, by secondhand dealers. This classification excludes antique shops pri- <br />marily engaged in the sale of used furniture and accessories other than appliances, as <br />well as vintage clothing or consignment stores. <br /> <br />Semi-Nude. A state of dress in which clothing covers no more than the genitals, pubic <br />region, areola of the female breasts, as well as portions of the body covered by support- <br />ing straps or devices. <br /> <br />Service Stations. Establishments engaged in the retail sale of gasoline or other motor <br />fuels, lubricants, parts, and accessories for automobiles and light trucks. This classifica- <br />tion includes incidental maintenance and repair of automobiles and light trucks, but ex- <br />cludes body and fender work or repair of heavy trucks or vehicles. <br /> <br />Setback Line.
