A sign <br />shall mean and include every advertising message, announcement, declaration, insig- <br />nia, surface or space erected or maintained for identification, advertisement or promo- <br />tion of the interests of any person, entity, product or service. This shall include any sign <br />located inside the store that is reasonably visible from the street. <br /> <br />Sign, Abandoned. A sign on a site or a structure which becomes vacant for a period of <br />three (3) months or more; a sign erected for a previous occupant or business unrelated <br />to the present occupant or business; a sign which pertains to a date, event or purpose, <br />which no longer exists; structural supports to which no sign is attached. <br /> <br />Sign, Accessory. A sign which indicates the name of the property, the name or trade- <br />mark of the person in possession and control of the property, or the business conduct- <br />ed, services rendered, goods produced, distributed or sold, entertainment offered or <br />event to occur upon the property upon which the sign is installed. <br /> <br />Sign, Animated. Any sign which is designed to give a message through a sequence of <br />progressive changes of parts or lights or degree of lighting, including, but not limited to <br />reader board signs. <br /> <br />Sign Area. The area of each individual sign surface upon, against, or through which the <br />message is displayed or illustrated. The area of a sign surface composed of characters, <br />illustrations, backgrounds, or words attached directly to a wall or vertical surface of a <br />building or structure shall be the area of the smallest rectangle, or series of contiguous <br />rectangles that enclose such characters, illustrations or words. <br /> <br /> SIGN AREA <br />(The diagram is illustrative) <br /> <br />Sign, Banner.
