City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: September 15, 2014 <br />Resolution - Council <br />File Number: 14-339 Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY: Uchenna Udemezue <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW: David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE: RESOLUTION Awarding a Construction Contract to Columbia Electric, Inc. for <br />the Hesperian Boulevard/Springlike Drive Railroad Crossing Improvements, <br />Project No. 12-150-38-325 and Appropriating $180,000 of Measure B Bicycle <br />and Pedestrian Funds for the Project (provides for pedestrian safety <br />equipment including accessible sidewalks, ramps and push button devices at <br />a cost of $236,936.50 funded by the Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian Fund <br />and the Section 130 Federal Grant) <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro did, on August 12, 2014 publicly open, examine <br />and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing the work described in the bid documents for <br />the subject project; and <br />WHEREAS, Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian funds will be used for this program; and <br />WHEREAS, said proposals were submitted to the Engineering and Transportation <br />Director who has found that the proposal hereinafter mentioned is the lowest responsive bid <br />by a responsible bidder for doing said work. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />1. That said City Council hereby rejects all of said proposals or bids except that herein <br />mentioned; hereby waives any irregularities in the proposal or bid of the lowest responsible <br />bidder; and hereby awards the contract for doing said work to the lowest responsible bidder <br />therefore, to wit Columbia Electric, Inc. in the amount of $236,936.50; and <br />2. That $180,000 of Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian funds are appropriated for the <br />completion of the project; and <br />3. Furthermore, in the event that the above named contractor is unable to execute the <br />contract, then the City Council takes notice that the City has complied with the public bidding <br />City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 9/9/2014 <br />
