City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: September 21, 2015 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:15-473 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.F. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Keith Cooke <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for a Resolution Accepting the Work for the Public Safety HVAC <br />Equipment Replacement, Project No. 2013.0290 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and authorizing <br />the City Manager to release the maintenance bonds for the subject project upon successful <br />completion of the one-year maintenance period. <br />BACKGROUND <br />This contract replaced the existing heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment <br />within the second floor mechanical room of the City’s Public Safety Building. This project <br />replaced the HVAC system cooling coils, intake air dampers, supply and return fans, and <br />associated ductwork, all of which were at the end of their useful life and in need of <br />replacement. Although the units provide the same cooling capacity as the existing system, <br />this new equipment is more energy efficient and compact. <br />Analysis <br />Construction is now complete and was performed in compliance with the contract documents. <br />Previous Actions <br />On November 3, 2014, by Resolution No. 2014-121 the City Council awarded a construction <br />contract to American Air Conditioning, Plumbing and Heating (AACPH). <br />Applicable General Plan Policies <br />This project is consistent with General Plan Goal No. 52.07 to provide for the ongoing <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 9/15/2015
