Planning Commission DAFT/UNAPPROVED Fluary 24, 2000
Minute No. 2000-04 (Excerpt) Page 16 of 16
Associate City Planner Weisbrod responded that the paint and body shop had relocated
two or three years ago to a site on Teagarden. He said it had become common practice
for dealers to separate the auto body and fender work from the rest of the dealership. He
said to his best knowledge there was no intent to bring the paint and body shop it back to
the new site. He said the paint and body shop was currently appropriately located in a
general industrial district. He said that the work at the Chovanes Ford site would be
limited to auto detailing, washing and waxing.
Motion that the Redevelopment Agency adopt the mitigated
negative declaration and approve the Owner Participation
Agreement pertaining to the Ford Motor Company Retail
Facility, with the inclusion of the attached recommended
conditions, an additional condition approved by separate motion
concerning street improvements to Marina Boulevard and an
additional design condition requiring that the entrance "kiosk"
be raised in height and that a color be added to the horizontal
reveal line of the proposed new showroom facility.
(Collier/Ravenstad; 7 Ayes, 0 Noes)
Commissioner Reed noted for the record that tonight's discussion was yet another
example of his and other commissioners' discomfort with the traffic information and the
traffic recommendations they were receiving. He asked that the City Council be made
aware of their concern. He said he believed the Planning Commission deserved better
support and better information on which to make a decision.
Chair Chin stated that she agreed with Commissioner Reed's comment.
Commissioner Collier suggested that perhaps projects should not be considered unless
the traffic administrator was present.
Secretary Hom said the traffic administrator did not intend to attend this meeting, but
understood that he had a conflict with another meeting.
(Brief recess)
G:\MINUTES.PC/2000/2-24-2000
2/29/2000
41 12
