City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: November 7, 2016 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:16-494 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.C. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Keith Cooke <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for a Resolution Accepting the Work for the Annual Sidewalk <br />Repair Program 2014-15, Project No. 2014.0060 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />This project reconstructed damaged concrete sidewalks, driveway approaches, curbs and <br />gutters, and installed sidewalk curb ramps throughout the city. <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, authorizing the <br />City Manager to release the performance and payment bonds, and to release the <br />maintenance bonds for the subject project upon successful completion of the one-year <br />maintenance period. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On November 3, 2014, By Resolution 2014-114, the City Council awarded a construction <br />contract for the subject project to AJW Construction. The project repaired approximately <br />15,500 square feet of damaged sidewalks and 3,000 linear feet of curbs and gutters City-wide <br />including locations adjacent to City facilities. In addition, the project installed about 62 curb <br />ramps, including locations where they did not previously exist, and upgraded existing curb <br />ramps to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The <br />Sidewalk Repair program offers to homeowners an option to use the City’s contractor for <br />sidewalk or driveway repairs which are then billed to the homeowners at completion. This part <br />of the Program allows residents to take advantage of economies of scale with regard to repair <br />cost and installed about 3,100 square feet of driveways. <br />Analysis <br />The project has been completed and found to be in compliance with the construction <br />documents and City Standards. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 11/1/2016
