8.3. Field Training Officer Pay: Effective December 1, 2016, Police Officers acting in the <br /> capacity of Field Training Officer (FTO) shall be paid an additional eighty dollars <br /> ($80.00)per day,while performing that duty. <br /> 8.4. Bilingual Pay: Police Officers utilizing bilingual skills shall be paid an additional thirty <br /> dollars ($30.00) per day while performing that duty. Effective January 1, 2017, Police <br /> Officers utilizing bilingual skills will no longer receive additional daily compensation, <br /> and shall instead be paid an additional one hundred eighty five dollars ($185.00) per <br /> month while performing bilingual services. Bilingual skills shall be those certified in <br /> advance of their performance pursuant to a testing process established by the City prior to <br /> compensation for such services. Bilingual pay shall apply to the following languages: <br /> Spanish, Chinese, American Sign Language, and other languages as determined by the <br /> Human Resources Department. Recertification of bilingual skills shall occur every three <br /> years. <br /> 8.5. Shift Differentials: Police Officers and Police Sergeants assigned to work the patrol <br /> division and who work a regularly assigned shift during which at least 50% of the hours <br /> are between 1500 and 2400 hours shall receive an additional 3% of current base pay for <br /> the entire shift. <br /> Police Officers and Police Sergeants assigned to the patrol division and who work a <br /> regularly assigned shift during which at least 50% of the hours are between 2400 and <br /> 0700 hours shall receive an additional 5% of current base-pay for the entire shift. <br /> 8.6. Assignment Differentials: Sworn Officers in the classifications of Police Sergeant and <br /> Police Officer assigned to Investigations, Traffic, Administration and Crime Prevention <br /> shall receive an additional 3% of current base pay. A call-in procedure for the <br /> Investigation Division shall be agreed to between the Police Officers' Association and the <br /> Police Chief. <br /> 8.7. Hazard Premium Pay-Mental Health Crisis Intervention Training: In recognition of the <br /> fact that law enforcement personnel are routinely and consistently exposed to uniquely <br /> hazardous conditions arising from interactions with the mentally ill, and are required to <br /> complete specialized training intended to enhance sworn personnel's ability to perform <br /> the hazardous and specialized mental health related law enforcement duties,the City will <br /> pay a Hazard Premium Pay to employees who have completed the Crisis Intervention <br /> Training (CIT). Effective the pay period including the date of the City Council <br /> ratification, Police Officers and Police Sergeants who, have completed the CIT will <br /> receive a premium in the amount of one percent (1%) of base pay. Effective July 1, 2017, <br /> the premium shall increase to two percent (2%) of base bay. Effective July 1, 2018, the <br /> premium shall increase to three percent (3%) of base pay. Effective July 1, 2019, the <br /> premium shall increase to four percent (4%) of base pay. It is the mutual understanding <br /> and intent of the parties that CIT pay qualifies as special compensation under CCR 571. <br /> In the event that the City or the Association learns that CIT will not be recognized as <br /> special compensation, the parties will reopen negotiations on the narrow and specific <br /> issue of providing the compensation associated with CIT in a manner that complies with <br /> CalPERS reporting requirements. <br /> 7 <br />
