City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: April 17, 2017 <br />Resolution - Council <br />Agenda Section:File Number:17-203 ACTION ITEMS <br />Agenda Number:10.A. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Jeff Kay <br />Assistant City Manager <br />FINANCE REVIEW:Not Applicable <br />TITLE:RESOLUTION to Approve and Authorize the City Manager to Contribute <br />$16,556 on behalf of the Mayor and City Council to the Alta Mira Club from <br />the Citywide Community Investment Program for the Repair and Removal of <br />Lead Paint from the Historical Residence Located at 561 Lafayette Avenue <br />WHEREAS, the Alta Mira Club of San Leandro is a member of the California <br />Federation of Women's Clubs; and <br />WHEREAS, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is an international <br />women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others <br />through volunteer service for more than 126 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Clubs of GFWC are located throughout California with the primary <br />purposes of carrying out charitable service programs, providing leadership opportunities, and <br />enriching the lives of its members through personal growth; and <br />WHEREAS, Alta Mira Club's purpose is to promote community cultural education, <br />social welfare, and to encourage public participation in civic affairs; and <br />WHEREAS, Alta Mira Club also maintains a historic residence located at 561 Lafayette <br />Avenue in San Leandro, which is used to host a range of public and community events <br />throughout the year; and <br />WHEREAS, the historic house was constructed in 1860 and is now in need of a <br />number of repairs that will be of benefit to the public, including removal of lead paint; and <br />WHEREAS, the Alta Mira Club submitted to the City proposals from construction and <br />hazard abatement companies identifying the costs of repairing the above-referenced issues, <br />which are estimated to be $16,556; and <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 4/10/2017 <br />80
