Directional or other functional elements such as signage, <br />supergraphics, color coding, or maps that are designed by the <br />architect, landscape architect or other design professional engaged <br />by the primary designer; <br />6. Utility costs and expenses related to the ongoing operation of the <br />Artwork such as electrical, water, or mechanical service required to <br />activate the work; and <br />7. Services, utilities, and other on-going operating expenses for <br />maintenance of the Artwork. <br />SECTION 7 – SAN LEANDRO ARTS COMMISSION <br />A. The San Leandro Arts Commission was established in December 2014 to <br />support the provision of Arts and Culture. <br />B. The San Leandro Arts Commission shall consist of nine (9) members. The <br />membership shall include one member from each of the six (6) Council Member <br />Districts and three (3) at large members, with at least one at large member who <br />shall be a resident of the City of San Leandro. <br />C. San Leandro Arts Commission members shall have professional credentials <br />and work experience as exhibiting and performing artists in the visual, <br />performing, media, and literary arts, contemporary museum and gallery art <br />curators, theatre and museum directors, arts management professionals, <br />arts educators, design professionals such as architects, landscape architects, <br />and urban planners. At least three (3) of the nine voting members shall be <br />professional artists. <br />D. It shall be the duty of the San Leandro Arts Commission to: <br />1. Encourage and promote art programs and activities within the City; <br />2. Make recommendations to the City Council regarding local visual <br />and performing art needs, activities and programs; <br />3. Receive and gather input from the community on issues relevant to <br />art policies; <br />4. Enhance community awareness of art resources; <br />5. Work cooperatively with public and private agencies to procure <br />space and opportunities for public art and to contribute to the <br />enrichment of the community by adding public art that is of the <br />highest quality, visually stimulating and of enduring value; <br />6. Analyze and make recommendations to the City Council on long <br />term financing to support the arts; <br />78
