The agreement will provide Measure BB grant funds for street rehabilitation.
BACKGROUND
On November 4, 2014, the voters of Alameda County, pursuant to the provisions of the Local
Transportation Authority and Improvement Act, California Public Utilities Code Section 180000 et
seq., approved Measure BB. Measure BB authorizes Alameda CTC to administer the proceeds
from the extension of an existing one-half of one percent transaction and use tax scheduled to
terminate on March 31, 2022, and the augmentation of that tax by one-half of one percent.
The duration of the tax will be thirty years from the initial year of collection, which began on April 1,
2015, with said tax to terminate/expire on March 31, 2045. The tax proceeds will be used to pay
for the investments outlined in the 2014 Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan (β€œ2014
TEP”), as it may be amended. A portion of the annual proceeds is designated for discretionary
funding of transportation projects within the County of which $30 Million has been programmed
over five fiscal years for the rehabilitation of San Leandro streets.
The City was granted $3,000,000 in discretionary funds for the fiscal year 2016-17, and an
agreement has been executed for those funds.
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 9/12/2017
