City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: February 20, 2018 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:17-019 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.E. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Keith Cooke <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for a Resolution Accepting the Work for the Main Library Carpet <br />Replacement Project; Project No. 2014.0370 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and authorizing the <br />City Manager to release the performance and payment bonds, and to release the maintenance <br />bond for the subject project upon successful completion of the one-year maintenance period. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On November 7, 2016, the City Council awarded a contract to Century Carpet for <br />$517,885 for the subject project. Work started in late December 2016 and was completed <br />in January 2017. Existing floor coverings throughout the Main Library (excluding the <br />Auditorium and Project Literacy offices) were replaced with decorative carpet tiles, and <br />durable textile flooring was installed in the Karp/Estudillo public meeting room. The new <br />carpet and painting have been well received by the public and library staff, and was a <br />welcome change from the prior worn finishes. <br />Analysis <br />The construction contract is complete, and the work complies with the contract documents <br />and City standards. <br />Current Agency Policies <br />·Maintain and enhance San Leandro’s infrastructure <br />·Support and implement programs and activities and strengthen communication that <br />enhances the quality of life and wellness, celebrates the arts and diversity and <br />promotes civic pride <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 2/13/2018 <br />1065
