132 <br /> <br />7.3 UPDATING THE PLAN <br /> <br />Per federal regulations, this Plan must be updated once every five years. To ensure <br />future compliance with these regulations, the 2019 mitigation strategy meeting will <br />commence the comprehensive process to create the 2020 Plan update. This process <br />will be similar to the annual plan update as described in Section 6.2. Implementing, <br />monitoring, and updating the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan but will be expanded to <br />address all sections of <br />the Plan: <br /> <br />1. City staff will consult with subject matter experts, and ABAG to conduct a <br />thorough evaluation and update of this Plan’s hazard analysis. The update will <br />include any new scientific research about San Leandro’s hazards, the city’s <br />exposure and vulnerabilities, as well as a thorough review of all loss estimates. <br /> <br />2. City staff will measure and report progress on actions since the plan’s <br />inception. <br /> <br />3. Items 1 and 2 together will inform the assessment of the updated mitigation <br />strategy. <br />o City staff will assess incomplete actions to determine if they should be <br />removed, retained or rewritten <br />o City staff will propose new actions for the updated plan. <br /> <br />4. City staff will perform another community review process, including input <br />opportunities for institutional community partners and individual members <br />of the public. <br /> <br />5.
