128 ~ CiTY OF SAN LEANDRO BiCYCLE & PEDESTRiAN MASTER PLAN <br />Madison Elementary School parking lot and residential housing. New <br />crossings should be considered on Juniper Street at the intersections of <br />Sagewood Avenue and Manzanita Avenue. Madison Elementary School is <br />nextdoor to Bonaire Park. The intersection of Juniper Street and Purdue <br />Street and Juniper Street and Willow Avenue should be improved with <br />high visibility crosswalks and curb extensions. See Appendix G for the full <br />recommendations map. <br />7. Pacific Community Recreation Complex: Curb extensions should be <br />considered for the intersection of Teagarden Street and Aladdin Avenue <br />to reduce the crossing distance and improve pedestrian visibility. A new <br />marked crosswalk and pedestrian actuated rectangular rapid flashing <br />beacon should be considered for implementation at the intersection of <br />Teagarden Drive and Montague Avenue. <br />Wicks Boulevard crossing in front of Stenzel Park and the Marina Community Center with <br />existing RRFBs. <br />The crossing at Juniper Street and Purdue Street in front Madison Elementary. <br />4. Woodrow Wilson Elementary School/John Muir Middle School: The <br />intersection of Williams Street and Joyce Avenue has a yellow high <br />visibility crosswalk at the entrance to the middle school with pedestrian <br />activated in-pavement flashing lights. There is a high visibility mid-block <br />crossing on Williams Street between Campbell Avenue and Dolly Avenue. <br />To further improve the pedestrian environment for these students and <br />their families, additional crossings should be installed Williams Street/ <br />Campbell Avenue and Williams Street/Sundberg Avenue/Leonard Drive; <br />both with RRFBs. <br />5. Wicks Boulevard at the Marina Community Center: Two new high <br />visibility crosswalks have been installed on Wicks Boulevard connecting <br />the Community Center to Stenzel Park. These crosswalks still can be <br />enhanced by adding curb extensions. <br />6. Bonaire Park and Madison Elementary School: The entrance to Bonaire <br />Park is difficult to see because it is adjacent to a series of driveways for <br />266
