The HSiP requires a data-driven, strategic <br />approach to improving highway safety on all public roads that focuses on <br />performance. items on the inclusion list include: 1) installation of vehicle-to- <br />infrastructure communication equipment, 2) Pedestrian hybrid beacons, 3) <br />Roadway improvements that provide separation between pedestrians and <br />motor vehicles, including medians and pedestrian crossing islands, 4) Other <br />physical infrastructure projects not specifically enumerated in the list of <br />eligible projects. <br />Federal Agency: Federal Highway Administration <br />Minimum/Maximum Grant Amounts: $100,000/$10,000,000 <br />Required Local Match: 10% <br />Website: http://dot.ca.gov/hq/LocalPrograms/hsip.html <br />Caltrans <br />SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING GRANT <br />PROGRAM (STP) <br />The Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program was created to <br />support the California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans’) Mission: <br />Provide a safe, sustainable, integrated and efficient transportation system to <br />enhance California’s economy and livability. The Grant programs overarching <br />objectives were also identified to ensure consideration of these major efforts <br />in transportation planning, including: sustainability, preservation, mobility, <br />safety, innovation, economy, health, and equity.
