The City Council's goals include to "advance <br />projects and programs promoting sustainable economic development, including <br />transforming San Leandro into a center for innovation." This involves establishing <br />San Leandro as a premier business location. A business survey conducted by the <br />City and Magellan indicated that 30% of respondents stated they would "definitely" <br />relocate their business if they were unable to find internet services that meet their <br />business' needs. A fiber infrastructure is a vital asset needed to achieve this vision. <br />A BROADBAND AND SMART CITY VISION FOR THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />The City of San Leandro (incorporated in 1872) is located in California's Alameda County <br />along the eastern shoreline of San Francisco Bay, between the city of Oakland to the <br />north and unincorporated Alameda County and the city of Hayward to the south. With a <br />population of approximately 88,000 and a rich tapestry of historical heritage neatly <br />packaged into distinctive neighborhoods, the City is a residential haven. <br />San Leandro has already distinguished itself as a progressively tech -enabled City through <br />a variety of initiatives, including its relationship with the Lit San Leandro (LSL) network. <br />This partnership has created a number of benefits for the City, including connecting its <br />schools, non -profits and many businesses.
