The LCD screen is backlight and provides a significant amount of light in darker <br />conditions. The LCD screen activates from sleep mode when a button is pressed on the <br />meter. The mkBeacon also includes a "beacon" light at the top of the meter that shines <br />down on the buttons / front of the meter to make it easier to see at night. The beacon <br />light can be configured for hours of operation. <br />p) All technology shall wirelessly communicate usage, payment status, and maintenance <br />alert data in real-time. <br />q) All technology shall be managed by a web-based meter maintenance system (MMS) <br />that can: <br />i. Remotely update meter pricing, regulations, and configuration <br />ii. Provide reports on meters <br />iii. Automatically create maintenance work order tickets for meter-generated alarms or <br />patron reports of meter malfunctions. Maintenance tickets shall be able to be updated <br />via email, smartphone and tablet. <br />iv. Record meter maintenance completed by repair staff. <br />v. Easily indicate meter status and send alarmsto designated personnel if a meter is not <br />functioning. <br />r) All technology shall be warranted to operate as proposed within a temperature range <br />of 0 degrees Fahrenheit to +140 degrees Fahrenheit and under environmental conditions <br />found in the City of San Leandro, including but not limited to grime, rain, fog, salt air, sun <br />(including direct sunlight), and vibrations. <br />Wireless two-way communications <br />Comply <br />a) The technology will be equipped with a modem, antenna, and the required software <br />to support wireless communications. <br />b) The wireless communications shall be supplied as a “communications service” during <br />the life of the contract, not as a specific type of modem or wireless carrier supply. <br />c) Describe the modem type: CDMA, GSM and/or Wi-Fi. <br />The mkBeacon supports both CDMA and GSM modems currently. Wi-Fi is expected to <br />be available by the end of 2018 <br />d) Identify the likely cellular carrier(s) to be used for San Leandro service and the process <br />of determining reliability of signal coverage. <br />AT&T ,T-Mobile or Verizon networks would be the options.
