City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: May 20, 2019 <br />Resolution - Council <br />Agenda Section:File Number:19-249 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />BY:Jeff Tudor <br />Chief of Police <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:RESOLUTION of the City of San Leandro City Council to Accept and Authorize <br />the City Manager to Execute All Documents Related to the Department of <br />Justice’s Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Award of $31,599 and <br />to Appropriate These Funds for Procuring Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) <br />Program Equipment <br />WHEREAS, the Edward Byrne JAG Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, <br />Office of Justice Programs and was created in 2005 by merging the Edward Byrne Memorial <br />Grant Program (Byrne) with the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program (LLEBG); and <br />WHEREAS, Edward Byrne JAG funding can be used to support a broad range of state and local <br />government police projects, including those designed to prevent and control crime and to improve <br />the criminal justice system; and <br />WHEREAS, on November 18th, 2018, the Police Department submitted a request for grant <br />funding through the County of Alameda for Edward Byrne JAG funding to enhance the <br />department’s UAS program with additional equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, the SLPD was awarded Department of Justice (DOJ) JAG funding of $31,599 for <br />the project proposed less $1,579.95 for administrative fees paid to Alameda County Sheriff’s <br />Office for managing of this grant. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />1.That City Council accepts and the City Manager is authorized to execute all documents <br />related to the Department of Justice’s JAG award for technology improvements totaling <br />$31,599; and <br />2.That an appropriation of the DOJ JAG funding of $31,599 to account No.150-21-057 is <br />approved. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 5/14/2019
