DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br /> <br />o Relocation of the Filarmonica Artista Amadora de San Leandro (FAASL) <br />across the street from 915 Antonio to a new facility at 844 Alvarado Street; <br />o Parrott St. Apartments – 62 units of affordable housing to be built by the <br />nonprofit Eden Housing at 1604 San Leandro Blvd . The City Council also <br />approved $5 million in funding: $1 million of City affordable housing funds <br />and $4 million in the City’s share of Alameda County A -1 Housing Bond <br />funds; <br />o SLTC Residential – 197 units of market rate housing and 13,000 square <br />feet of office space, located south of the San Leandro Tech Campus at <br />Martinez and Parrott Streets; <br />o Alvarado Commerce Center - a 159,450 square foot industrial shell building <br />located at 2756 Alvarado Street. <br /> <br /> The City recruited, retained and supported the expansion of a multitude of <br />businesses. New advanced manufacturing and technology, speciality food and <br />beverage production businesses include: Ivaldi Group (3D printing), Geltor (plant- <br />based collagen), Porifera (reverse osmosis), Pinx Catering, As Kneaded Bakery, <br />Prime Roots (plant-based protein) and Torani. Some of the more than 20 new <br />restaurants include: Kendejah, Maejoo, Shabu House, Kismat Indian Cuisine, <br />Bonchon, Moussaka, Noodles Pho Me, and Joe’s Pho/Cool H2O. Burlington Coat <br />store also opened in the former Sports Authority space at Westgate Shopping <br />Center and Orange Theory Fitness arrived at the Bayfair Center. <br /> The City funded and installed a new community-themed mural in the Washington <br />Manor Neighborhood, as well as new art on 29 additional utility boxes throughout <br />the City. The prevalence of public art in San Leandro is now being reflected in new <br />developments, which are beginning to regularly include public art components, <br />such as the four murals on the walls of the San Leandro Business Center at 100 <br />Halcyon Drive, and a new mural at 21st Amendment Brewery. <br /> The Building and Safety Division issued building permits and performed <br />inspections to facilitate increased investment in the community. The streamlini ng <br />of processes continued including solar permitting.
