DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />NOTE: Discussion items on the agenda were not discussed in sequence as listed to <br />accommodate public comments first at the request of city staff. <br /> <br />2.A. 19-383 Discussion of the Mulford-Marina Branch Library Project <br /> <br />Due to the length of the meeting, the update on the Mulford-Marina Branch Library Project was <br />postponed until the next Facilities meeting. <br /> <br />Committee Requests/Direction to Staff: <br />Vice Mayor Lopez commented that the public should provide input on the schematic design in a <br />community meeting. <br /> <br />2.B. 19-384 Staff Report for City Council Facilities and Transportation Committee <br />Discussion and Possible action to Recognize Former Mayor Tony Santos According to <br />Title 1 Chapter 10 of the San Leandro Administrative Code <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Liz Warmerdam provided an update for discussion and possible action <br />to recognize former Mayor Tony Santos. <br /> <br />Committee Requests/Direction to Staff: <br />Councilmember Cox commented about revisiting the item and possibly look at renaming Grover <br />Cleveland Park. <br />Mayor Cutter was open to the suggestion of renaming the park but suggested to also include a <br />plaque to provide historical background and commemorate the contribution of the neighborhood. <br />Vice Mayor Lopez would like to have the park renamed in recognition of Mayor Santos and would <br />be ok recognizing the neighborhood and their story. <br /> <br />2.C. 19-835 Staff Review of Regulations Regarding Shared Active Transportation and <br />E-Scooter Activity With the city and the public Right-of-way <br /> <br />Director of Engineering & Transportation Keith Cooke provided an overview on E-Scooters, <br />similar shared network vehicles and shared active transportation. He briefly reviewed current <br />regulations at the Federal, State and Local levels. <br /> <br />Committee Requests/Direction to Staff: <br />The Committee would like to review at a later time regulations for the public-right-away when <br />technology has evolved and improved. <br />Mayor Cutter mentioned that the City’s bike lanes could be improved to accommodate personal <br />Page 2 City of San Leandro Printed on 8/28/2019 <br />39
