City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: January 6, 2020 <br />Resolution - Council <br />Agenda Section:File Number:19-584 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />BY: <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Resolution of the City of San Leandro City Council to Increase the Contract <br />Change Order Cap Authorization from 15% to 27% (from $263,100 to $464,572; <br />an Increase of $201,472) for the Original Construction Contract Amount of <br />$1,754,160 with Granite Construction, Inc. for the Annual Overlay/Rehabilitation <br />2016-17 Phase 2, Project No. 2017.0050 (provides for increasing the change <br />order cap for increased scope of work due to unforeseen conditions) <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro did on July 16, 2018 award a construction contract to <br />Granite Construction, Inc. by Resolution No. 2018-331 for the Annual Overlay/Rehabilitation <br />2016-17 Phase 2, Project No. 2017.0050; and <br />WHEREAS, the City did expand the scope of the project to provide additional <br />improvements and remediate issues encountered during construction; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to provide that subcontractors and workers are paid in a timely <br />fashion, avoid as much as possible costly delay claims, and insure that the City completes <br />projects that are to the City’s highest standards, the City Council finds that providing authorization <br />to negotiate and approve change orders is in the best interests of public health, safety and <br />welfare. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to negotiate and approve cumulative <br />change orders for this project up to a maximum of $464,572, or 27% of the original contract <br />amount; and <br />That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all actions and execute all <br />documents necessary to enact the purpose and intent of this resolution. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 12/23/2019 <br />49
