IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2020-003 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL TO <br />INCREASE THE CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER CAP AUTHORIZATION FROM 15% <br />TO 27% (FROM $263,100 TO $464,572; AN INCREASE OF $201,472) FOR THE <br />ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $1,754,160 WITH GRANITE <br />CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE ANNUAL OVERLAY/REHABILITATION 2016-17 <br />PHASE 2, PROJECT NO. 2017.0050 (PROVIDES FOR INCREASING THE CHANGE <br />ORDER CAP FOR INCREASED SCOPE OF WORK DUE TO UNFORESEEN <br />CONDITIONS) <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro did on July 16, 2018 award a construction contract <br />to Granite Construction, Inc. by Resolution No. 2018-331 for the Annual Overlay/Rehabilitation <br />2016-17 Phase 2, Project No. 2017.0050; and <br />WHEREAS, the City did expand the scope of the project to provide additional <br />improvements and remediate issues encountered during construction; and ' <br />WHEREAS, in order to provide that subcontractors and workers are paid in a timely <br />fashion, avoid as much as possible costly delay claims, and insure that the City completes <br />projects that are to the City's highest standards, the City Council finds that providing <br />authorization to negotiate and approve change orders is in the best interests of public health, <br />safety and welfare. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to negotiate and approve cumulative <br />change orders for this project up to a maximum of $464,572, or 27% of the original contract <br />amount; and <br />That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all actions and execute all <br />documents necessary to enact the purpose and intent of this resolution. <br />Introduced by Councilmember Cox and passed and adopted this 6th day of January 2020, <br />by the following vote: <br />Members of the Council: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Aguilar, Ballew, Cox, Hernandez, Lee, Lopez, Mayor Cutter (7) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br />ATTEST: <br />ic' I.
