<br /> 78 <br />To ensure consistency with the density policies of the General Plan and with the rights of <br />individuals living as a household, occupancy by persons living as a single household (whether <br />or not related by blood or marriage) in a dwelling unit shall comply with the California Uniform <br />Housing Code. <br /> <br />A. A zoning permit shall be required for occupancy of a dwelling unit by more than 10 <br />persons 18 years or older. (Ord. 2001-015 § 1) <br /> <br />2.04.240 RO District—Animal Husbandry <br /> <br />The maintenance of horses, cows, goats, cats, dogs, rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, poultry, <br />pigeons, and other similar animals is permitted on a lot with one dwelling unit, subject to the <br />following regulations: <br /> <br />A. The slaughter of small animals, such as poultry and rabbits is permitted only where <br />intended for consumption by the resident family. <br /> <br />B. The keeping, feeding, and maintenance of horses, cows or goats is permitted for non- <br />profit purposes only. The keeping, feeding and maintenance of dogs, cats, rabbits, <br />chinchillas, guinea pigs, poultry, pigeons, and other similar animals is permitted for the <br />purpose of profit only where the sale of animals or animal products on the site is clearly <br />subordinate and incidental to the residential use of the property. <br /> <br />C. No animal other than household pets shall be kept within a dwelling, or within 20 feet <br />of a dwelling or of a required front yard, or within 60 feet of the front lot line. <br /> <br />D. The maximum space devoted to the keeping of such animals shall be 5,000 square <br />feet or 20 percent of the lot, whichever is less. <br /> <br />E. Housing or caging of animals shall be adequate and sanitary. All animal food except <br />hay and straw shall be stored in rodent-proof containers. <br /> <br />F. The number of animals other than household pets shall be limited by the following re- <br />quirements of open space: <br /> <br />1. For each horse or cow - 4,000 square feet <br /> <br />2. For each sheep or goat - 2,000 square feet <br /> <br />3. For each dog not a household pet - 1,000 square feet <br /> <br />4. For each cat not a household pet - 500 square feet <br /> <br />5.
