Chapter and section headings contained herein shall not be deemed to govern, limit, <br />modify or in any manner affect the scope, meaning or intent of any section hereof. <br /> <br />H. The singular number includes the plural, and the plural the singular. <br /> <br />3. References in the masculine and feminine genders are interchangeable. <br /> <br />4. The words “activities” and “facilities” include any part thereof. (Ord. 2001-015 § 1) <br /> <br />1.12.108 Definitions <br /> <br />Abate. To bring into conformity with the provisions of this Code, either by reconstruction or <br />modification pursuant to a valid permit, or by removal or obliteration as directed by the Chief <br />Building Official or Zoning Enforcement Official. <br /> <br />Abutting or Adjoining. Having district boundaries or lot lines in common. <br /> <br />Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). “Accessory dwelling unit” (ADU) means aAn attached or <br />detached residential dwelling unit which provides complete independent living facilities for <br />one or more persons. An ADUs shall include permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eat- <br />ing, cooking, and sanitation on the same parcel as the single-family dwelling is situated. An <br />ADU also includes: (a) an efficiency unit, as defined in Section 17958.1 of the California <br />Health and Safety Code; and or a (b) a manufactured home, as defined in Section 18007 <br />and 17958.1 of the California Health and Safety Code. ADUs are regulated by See also <br />Section 2.04.388 Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). <br /> <br />A. Accessory Dwelling Unit, Repurposed (Single-Family). An attached or detached <br />ADU within an existing legally established (a) single-family dwelling, or (b) existing <br />accessory structure on a parcel with an existing or proposed single-family dwelling. <br />B. Accessory Dwelling Unit, Repurposed (Two-Family or Multi-Family). An at- <br />tached ADU within existing non-habitable space(s) including, but not limited to, stor- <br />age rooms, boiler rooms, passageways, attics, basements, or attached garages in an <br />existing legally established two-family or multi-family structure. <br />C. Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU). A unit that is contained within the habita- <br />ble floor area of a single-family residence and includes a separate exterior entrance. <br />A JADU may include separate sanitation facilities, or may share sanitation facilities <br />with the existing structure.
