Retail Services. Provision of services of a personal nature. This classification includes bar- <br />ber and beauty shops, tattoo studios, seamstresses, tailors, shoe repair shops, dry cleaning <br />businesses (excluding large-scale plants), photocopying, and self-service laundries. Retail <br />services excludes coin-operated self-service laundries and coin-operated dry cleaning busi- <br />nesses. <br />Reverse Vending Machine(s). An automated mechanical device that accepts at least one <br />or more types of empty beverage containers such as aluminum cans, glass and plastic <br />bottles, and issues a cash refund or a redeemable credit slip. A reverse vending machine <br />may sort and process containers mechanically, provided that the entire process is enclosed <br />within the machine. Also see Section 4.04.232 Recycling Facilities. <br />A. Single -Feed Reverse Vending Machine. Designed to accept individual contain- <br />ers one at a time. <br />B. Bulk Reverse Vending Machine. Designed to accept more than one container at <br />a time and to compute the refund or credit due on the basis of weight. <br />Roof Line. The top of the parapet or the midpoint between the eave line and the top of the <br />roof. <br />Roof Top. The covered surface of the uppermost story of a building. <br />Room, Habitable. A room meeting the requirements of the Uniform Housing Code for <br />sleeping, living, cooking, or dining purposes, excluding such enclosed places as closets, <br />pantries, bath or toilet rooms, service rooms, connecting corridors, laundries, unfinished <br />attics, foyers, storage spaces, cellars, utility rooms, garages, and similar spaces. <br />Rooming House. See "Boarding House." <br />Schools, Public or Private. Educational institutions having a curriculum comparable to that <br />required in the public schools of the State of California and meeting the requirements of the <br />State compulsory education laws. <br />Secondhand Sales. The retail sale of used items, for example, used appliances and used <br />clothing, by secondhand dealers. This classification excludes antique shops primarily en- <br />gaged in the sale of used furniture and accessories other than appliances, as well as vintage <br />clothing or consignment stores. <br />Semi -Nude. A state of dress in which clothing covers no more than the genitals, pubic re- <br />gion, areola of the female breasts, as well as portions of the body covered by supporting <br />straps or devices. <br />Service Stations. Establishments engaged in the retail sale of gasoline or other motor <br />fuels, lubricants, parts, and accessories for automobiles and light trucks.
