July 16, 2020Disaster Council Minutes <br />California Hospital Association has put together a webinar focusing on PSPS, COVID <br />and wildfires. <br />Davis Street Family Resource Center stated that they are interested in partnering with <br />the city to provide vaccines. Food distribution has stabilized and is providing 80-90 <br />families per week, with a spike on Mondays and Fridays. The clinic is providing testing <br />to an average of 20-30 people daily, while going out to congregate settings. Dental <br />services have been restored and Behavioral Health has been impacted the most. <br />Jefferson is open for childcare and they are working with the school district about <br />reopening possibly Garfield and Roosevelt. With a subsidy, childcare centers are doing <br />distancing learning, where a parent can pick up materials and food once a week. <br />Red Cross recommended using the Alameda MRC for volunteers to assist with <br />vaccinations. They are looking at best procedures to provide shelter during the COVID, <br />including possibly using hotels. <br />School Districts <br />•San Leandro <br />•San Lorenzo <br />2.E. <br />San Leandro Unified reported that the deep cleaning and disinfecting, construction <br />projects, the online summer school program and food distribution programs at 3 sites <br />are going well. There has been an increase in the number of families needing food. <br />The District is developing a reopening plan after engaging both parents and staff. The <br />School Board decided to move forward with an online start to the upcoming school year <br />with return to in-person instruction as soon as local conditions allow. The District <br />learned a lot about distance learning and will use it to improve the future programming <br />and will be using teletherapy services for mental health. The District is exploring ways <br />to ensure all families are able to maintain connectivity, including having provided hot <br />spots in the spring using funding. <br />Utilities <br />•PG&E <br />•EBCE <br />2.F. <br />PG&E reported that they are involved in a virtual exercise, one of 3, which are required <br />by the CPUC, using new forecasting technology and will include flyovers. PG&E has <br />done a lot to sectionalize areas to reduce the impact of the shutoffs by installing <br />equipment to keep the electricity on in certain areas. <br />Other Agencies within the City <br />•Chamber of Commerce <br />•Faith Based Organizations <br />•Building Futures with Women and Children <br />2.G. <br />April Showers reported they are still seeing between 35-50 people and that the most <br />vulnerable have been moved into hotels. They are taking food to encampments and <br />that volunteers are from Creekside’s younger generation. <br />The Mayor commented on the fact that the city is exploring funding to assist, including <br />using the A-1 allocation of $5 million for supportive housing and other funds for a <br />navigation center. <br />No reports from the faith based organizations. <br />Page 4City of San Leandro
