CHAPTER 7 IMPLEMENTATION <br />Street and Public Space Capital Improvement Projects <br />Transforming the Bay Fair TOD Specific <br />Plan Area into a walkable, bikeable, and <br />transit -oriented environment will involve a <br />combination of public and privately -funded <br />infrastructure improvements. Some will <br />happen as part of future private development, <br />including new internal local streets and <br />sidewalk and pedestrian improvements. <br />These are shown in the Specific Plan, <br />which requires internal streets, pedestrian - <br />oriented frontages and connections, and new <br />open spaces as parcels develop over time. <br />Other projects - such as the re -designs of <br />Fairmont Avenue and Hesperian Boulevard, <br />major intersection improvements, and <br />stormwater improvements to the Estudillo <br />Canal - may involve public capital and <br />coordination.
