December 3, 2020Disaster Council Minutes <br />Healthcare Services <br />• Hospitals <br />• Davis Street Family Resource Center <br />• Red Cross <br />• SL Elder Care Alliance <br />2.D. <br />Kaiser Hospital reported that the surge is here, and the hospital is feeling the impact. <br />Because of the early start on flu vaccine, there 50,000 more flu vaccinations in this <br />area alone, which is good news and goal that they were trying to achieve. They are <br />waiting for directions from CDC and the state and there is a team looking at how the <br />COVID vaccine will get dispersed. Kaiser was part of the Pfizer trials; they feel <br />confident about the vaccinations and continue trials to look at the effects on teenagers <br />(12-17). <br />San Leandro Hospital reported that they are preparing for the vaccines, along with <br />county partners, including having the appropriate freezers for storage and are looking <br />how to receive the vaccine. There has been an uptick in cases in the ICU. Imperial <br />County is still requesting the need for mutual aid from other facilities. At SLH, 1/3 of <br />its ICU has COVID patients. They are still receiving the antibody therapy, which comes <br />from the state. SLH ICU is full, with patients with all diagnoses. The hospitals have to <br />report bed status to the county on a daily basis, which allows healthcare providers to <br />see the availability. <br />Red Cross shared that they are concerned that the wildfire season in S. Cal is not over <br />yet. <br />School Districts <br />• San Leandro <br />• San Lorenzo <br />2.E. <br />San Leandro Unified reported that the District is planning on re-opening the 4th ASES <br />program on Dec 7 at McKinley, barring any changes to the stay at home order. This <br />will support 12 students from the campus (grades 1-5), M-F, 2:30 pm to 6pm. <br />The District is awaiting further guidance on the reopening process from the county and <br />the state, due to the recent spike in cases.
