The Committee recently released a list of projects included in FY 2022 <br />spending bills. <br /> <br />We look forward to continued success if lawmakers choose to maintain the process in <br />subsequent appropriations cycles. <br /> <br />Ongoing Implementation of Coronavirus Emergency Relief <br /> <br />Since March 2020, our team engaged in intergovernmental advocacy efforts with key partners <br />seeking emergency relief for cities, ensuring that lawmakers understood the pandemic’s impacts on <br />local governments. We worked with each of our clients to understand the full and unique needs of <br />each community, to develop an advocacy strategy, and to communicate those needs to Congressional <br />leaders and the Administration. We utilized an evidence-based strategy to demonstrate need when <br />seeking fiscal relief for all units of local government. Our advocacy was guided by communicating the <br />human toll, demonstrating the federal support necessary to ensure successful mitigation, and <br />providing quantitative evidence to support our claims. We have been deeply engaged in the federal <br />response to the pandemic, working closely with Members of Congress and the Administration <br />throughout the development and implementation of new laws. <br /> <br /> Throughout the 116th Session of Congress, it was essential to communicate needs to <br />Congressional leaders who would make the ultimate decisions behind closed doors. We ensured that <br />appropriate staff within leadership offices were informed, including staff within the Office of House <br />Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the Office of then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Office of House <br />Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and the Office of then-Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer. We <br />also worked with relevant committee staff overseeing the drafting of the highly technical provisions of <br />the bills to ultimately determine eligibility for newly established resources. <br /> <br />Our team drafted and submitted letters and reports addressed to the Congressional delegation <br />and the Administration to provide a comprehensive review of the fiscal impacts of the pandemic on <br />public agencies.
