February 4, 2021Disaster Council Minutes <br />Alameda County <br />• Office of Emergency Services <br />• Alameda County Fire Department <br />• Alameda Public Health Department <br />2.B. <br />Alameda County OES reported that during the Wednesday elected officials call it was <br />announced that the megapod at the Coliseum was opening on Feb 16 and will be <br />providing 5-6000 doses a day, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a partnership <br />between State and FEMA, and they will be providing the vaccine doses. It is set up for <br />3 months with a possible extension to 6 months. The site will also have 2 mobile units <br />that will able to go out. There are still a lot of questions about the site and whether it <br />will be regional or not. <br />The governor praised the County’s vaccine process. Fire departments are working to <br />set up neighborhood PODS in with Hayward (Tiburcio Vasquez), Oakland (Fremont <br />High), Fremont, and the Tiburcio Vasquez in Ashland, which will eventually be turned <br />over to local groups to run, so fire staff can assist at other PODs. The Fairgrounds <br />POD will open 2/15 and will be smaller. Golden Gate Fields is open today. Mobile <br />sites are also being planned. The vaccine dashboard is up and running and updated. <br />Law Enforcement (LE) will have 2 sites for all LE employees throughout the county, <br />inmates and jail staff. That may start as soon as 2/10. <br />The County is moving into the phase 1, tier 1b, which covers an estimated 345,000 <br />people. People are encouraged to reach out to their medical care providers. Those <br />that are registering on the county website, will be notified within the next few weeks of <br />when appointments are available. Appointment notification will be phased based on <br />where people live, work and their age. 168,000 have signed up already. People are also <br />being provided with phone numbers to call, including in other languages. The county <br />will also be working with employers to get lists of names, in order to provide essential <br />workers appointments. <br />The County is providing 9,000-10000 tests per day, overall positivity rate of 5% and <br />continues to drop. The County will be in purple tier for several more weeks due to the <br />adjusted case numbers. There are reported 74,959 positive cases, 999 deaths, <br />average of 17 new cases per 10,000 and adjusted case rate is 23, and hospitalizations <br />are continuing to decline. K-6 can open with approved safety plans. People should be <br />reminded to continue to be safe and skip in-person Super Bowl parties. <br />Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) reported that they are happy to be assisting <br />with the vaccine program. Paramedics are staffing the POD in Union City and will be <br />staffing one in Cherry /Ashland area. <br />San Leandro City <br />• San Leandro City Manager <br />• San Leandro Police <br />2.C. <br />Interim City Manager Robustelli deferred to SLPD and RHS staff for update. <br />San Leandro Police shared information about who is in Tier 1b for vaccinations and <br />that the County is working with employers to get employees vaccinated, including <br />encouraging employers to sign up on the vaccine website.
