City of San Leandro <br />Sewer System Management Plan <br />Volume I <br />Goals <br />The City's goals with respect to responding to SSOs are: <br />❑ Work safely; <br />❑ Respond quickly to minimize the volume of the SSO; <br />❑ Eliminate the cause of the SSO; <br />❑ Prevent sewage system overflows or leaks from entering the storm drain system or <br />receiving waters to the maximum extent practicable; <br />❑ Contain the spilled wastewater to the extent feasible; <br />❑ Minimize public contact with the spilled wastewater; <br />❑ Mitigate the impact of the SSO; <br />❑ Meet the regulatory reporting requirements; <br />❑ Evaluate the causes of failure related to certain SSOs; and <br />❑ Revise response procedures resulting from the debrief and failure analysis of certain <br />SSOs. <br />The City's complete OERP document (Appendix A) is available to view on the City website. <br />Page 126 <br />
